A Little Bit of Nostalgia and My Favourite Photos

I was feeling a little nostalgic today; Little Miss Penelope has her first sippy cup and will be starting on baby solids in the next couple of weeks.  I just don't want her to grow up!

The Boy is growing up so fast now, he's hit that 'kid' age. He's wanting to be more independent, to do more things with friends, and he's starting to really get that 'gangly' look.

Miss Emily is fast becoming an almost teenager. I know there's a term for it, but I really don't like that word so I'll call her an almost teen. She has just gotten rid of all her Barbie and Monster High dolls, and her dollhouse is now a receptacle for Little Miss Penelope's toys.

The Social One is talking about getting her resume together to look for an afterschool job over the Christmas holidays and I can't help but think she's way too young for a job!

The Eldest One is working lots after school and wanting to practice her driving, and is being oh so independent, talking about saving enough to buy her first car in 18 months time.

It makes me so happy to see them becoming such lovely people. Sometimes annoying, sometimes frustrating, but mostly lovely caring and happy children turning into young adults.

But at the same time it makes so sad. Their lives are moving away from needing me all the time, and sometimes I miss the way they would pronounce words wrong, or wrap their little arms around me and say "I love you Mummy".

To be fair, they all still hug me ALL the time. The words "I love you" are said in this house too many times a day to count, and I hear a lot of laughter so things must be ok. They share information with me and they like to be around us, so we must be doing something right.

So on that note of nostalgia, I thought I'd share some of my very favourite photos of my very favourite people.

Little Miss Penelope with her Daddy a couple of days ago. This photo makes me smile, everytime I see it.
And this one shows how beautiful she really is. Taken a month or so ago, she was sleeping in her pram after we walked to the supermarket because she wouldn't settle. And then she finally gave in and slept all the way home.
The Eldest and Social Ones back when they were little and smiled at everything all the time. They were laughing at something their Nana said in this photo, and I love it. They are 8 and 6 here.

I love this one my Mum took of the three girls a couple of years ago at Sovereign Hill in Victoria. They were trying on hats in the old Milliners shop and getting such a kick out of being silly.

This is one of my all time favourites. The Boy was 5 weeks old here, and he was not happy! He'd had a bath and Mum wanted to take some photos of him. So she got this one which makes me smile without fail, every single time I look at it. I just love how cranky he looks!

This one The Eldest One took at the beach in 2010. Her and The Boy were being silly on the sand, we'd just had fish and chips for dinner and they were just so happy. She snapped this photo and it's just so different and happy. I love it.

This is Miss Emily when she was 3, almost 4. She was such a smiley and loving girl, and she still is really.

And Little Miss Penelope again. She was only a few weeks' old in this one, about 4 weeks actually, and I love the way she flops her arms over her head to sleep. It's just like me, and she still likes to sleep like this. It's just adorable.

So these are some of my favourite photos and they make me happy. Still nostalgic, but I can't stop them from growing and nor would I really want to.
